6年ぶりに出会った龍の男
新年明けましておめでとうございますから20日余り経過しました。
本年もよろしくお願いします。
先日、八王子に住む「龍の男」に嫁さんと会いに行ってきました。
僕の２コ上で、非常にユニークな方です。
＜龍語録＞
・人間思い込めば何でもできる。実現しなかったのはその人の意識が足りなかったのだ。
・モノを作るということは命を削ること。
・世の中に偶然は無い。必然あるのみ。
・君は（僕に向かって）赤ちゃん星に生まれている。無邪気で食うに困らない一生を送るだろう。
etc...
そのスジの方っぽい発言です。正直言ってインパクトの強い人です。
龍の男とは、8年前くらいにバイト先で知り合いました。
当時彼は漫画を書いており、僕は小説を書いておりました。
このバイト先が僕を含め変人ばかりで、ちょくちょく集まっては、
日本人とは？社会とは？世界とは？未来とは？と
社会人にもなっていないひよっ子たちがよく議論していたものでした。
その中で、誰しもが「自分は優れている」と思い込んでいたのも間違いなく、
そして、それぞれに「どうしようもない不安」を抱えていたのも間違いありません。
龍の男はその中の中心メンバーで、彼だけ「不安」を感じさせない強さを持っていました。
６年前に、僕が八王子を後にすることになったとき、
彼の自信のある言い回し、語録にあるような強い言葉を贈られました。
そして、この後も紆余曲折しながらも、この言葉を自分の中で何度も咀嚼しながら、
僕は30才を迎え、結婚をしたのでした。
さて、そんな彼と何故再会することになったかというと
今年の年賀状を作るにあたり、過去にもらった人の中から
自分にとってインパクトが強い人なども久しぶりに送ってみることにしました。
で、出てきたのが「龍の男」。
6年前の住所なので、十中八九届かないと思っていたのだけど、なんと返信が帰ってきた。
再会は八王子の居酒屋でした。
彼は見た目全然変わっておらず、物腰も相変わらずで、
変わっていたのは雰囲気がややマイルドになっていた程度。
間が空きすぎており、何から話すか考えるのが面倒になってしまうような雰囲気です。
お酒とともに話が徐々に盛り上がり、なんとなく自分が6年前の25歳に巻き戻っていくような奇妙な感じを受けたものです。
3時間ほど話をしていて分かったことは、お互い「変わっていない」ことと、「確実に変わった」ということ。
社会に出て、色々あったけど、構造としての人格は変わっていなかった。
でも、数年間におこった出来事がつけた擦り傷のような痕跡はお互いにあって、そのことにより昔の傷が目立たなくなっていた。そんな感じでしょうか？
高校時代、大学時代の親友に久々に再会しても、こんな気持ちになるのは滅多にありません。
龍の男は僕にとって、なんだったのだろうか？
結局帰りしな、考えてみたのだけれど上手い形容の言葉が思いつかないまま。
お互いに生きていることを確認した、ただそれだっただけかもしれない。
でも、結構あったかくなって、なんだかふわふわした気分になったんです。
